Aw, I'm sorry you hit a book by SB that didn't work for you. I know I will start her books again but finding out where some of the bumps are in the road makes it easier for me. I was someone who liked Deck and Sophia together so I'm glad I wasn't reading with the series.
Okay, so was this just a more intense book or was it joyless? I ask because I remember her time travel that was sad but also intense so I did like it.

It was joyless. And bleak. And she tried to tie so many things together.
The first chapter or so was good and the end was good - but TOO abrupt. The middle was a vast sea of bleak.
Sadness and woe! I have high expectations for her novella coming out this summer though. I am an optimist!! ;-)
