I'm feeling a bit deja vu-ish...
6.29.2007
...I know I've done this before so I must have missed by blog-iversary. Go me, anyway!! Over a year of blogging (although, I'm not the most faithful blogger, I know - I'll try to do better). Anywho, to our friends in the north:

Happy Canada Day!!

ETA: My actual blog-iversary was the 15th (I checked the Archives). I blame Father's Day and having company for my missing it. ;-)

Since I've got nothin'...
...I'll jump on the bandwagon (late, I know) with a little help from a LOLcat (or two):

Now I'm the first to admit, I covet the iPhone. But $499 for a phone?!?!?!?! I don't think so. That's not to say that I won't seriously relook my options in a year and a half when my current contract is up. ;-) LOLOL I loves me some gadgets, after all.

In other news, I'm about 3/4 through Safe Harbor and liking it. She's skating the heroine right on the edge of TSTL, at times, but so far has kept her from going over. Seems pretty realistic to me...or maybe that's just me?? We don't all do that?? Shut up!!

LOLcats found at ICHC, of course.

I'm it...and a little bit more!
6.24.2007
...so Cindy tagged me to do a music meme. Now that the 'rents have headed northward I can do it. :o)

The instructions are: List seven songs you are into right now, no matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

Okay, here goes (I won't be doing the cool video stuff some people did because I don't think all my songs are YouTube-able) in no particular order:

1. Girlfriend - Avril Lavigne It's just too bouncy, isn't it? :-D
2. No Sleep Tonight - the Faders It isn't everywhere like it was a little while back but I still enjoy it.
3. Candyman - Christina Aguilera I enjoy the swing vibe it has going and doubt that it will ever be a hit on mainstream radio. LOL
4. Hard Times Come Again No More - Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer & Mark O'Connor w/ James Taylor The whole Appalachian Journey CD is fabulous but this song is the one I find myself humming.
5. Devoted to You - Linda Ronstadt Did you know she has a lullaby CD?? With soothing treatments of rock hits, no less. It's very enjoyable, says me. :o)
6. 455 Rocket - Kathy Mattea I'm so not a country fan but I do make an occasional exception and this is one of them. The bluesy vibe and lyrics are fun.
7. Us Amazonians - Kirsty MacColl Any song with the lines: "I punched him out and brought him to this hut; but I know he'll thank me when he wakes up" has to be a winner! LOL

Well, there you have it peeps! Am I tagging anyone?? Nope. But if anyone wants to do it, go for it!

Now, for the little bit more portion of today's blog:

I mentioned earlier that I had some new to me authors to recommend so here goes:
Cindy Miles is new to me (and everyone else I think since her first book just came out in May). She's writing paranormal/time travel stuff. It has a very Lynn Kurland vibe and I love me some Lynn K so I liked it. The debut book is Spirited Away and is similar, in some ways, to Lynn K's Stardust of Yesterday (probably my very favorite book EVAR) so I liked it. I'll pick up her next book when it comes out in the Fall and see if I continue to like her stuff. Not a lot of steam in the first one, FYI.

Another new-to-me author I tried recently is Kelley St. John. I read a Harlequin Blaze called Kiss and Dwell (the first in a trilogy, btw) and liked it enough to be on the lookout for the rest of the series. Again paranormal (I was on quite the paranormal spurt there for a while) but this time with steam. ;-) I may check out one of her single titles, too...even though the Mountain is groaning already and threatening to avalanche all over my house. LOL

Well, that's it for me today, peeps! I'll be around more now that my company is gone and the scrapbooking is finished.

Should we start a countdown??
6.20.2007
Sorry I've been missing in action, peeps! My mom came home with me so I've been trying to be entertaining (stop snickering, please). ;-)

Anyway, I was looking at my calendar today and realized that the new Harry Potter book will be out soon! Yay!!

The lolcats from ICanHasCheezburger.com are excited, too. :-D

My mom's here til the weekend so I'll still be missing but I'll do better, honest! I'll be posting about some new-to-me authors I think are worth recommending, even. Go me!

ETA: If you look at the upper right side of the blog, you'll notice I added the a countdown widget made by the fine folks at The Leaky Cauldron. They rock! For all things Potter (without all the rampant speculation), surf by and visit them. :o)

W00T!! An excerpt, we have an excerpt, peeps!
6.13.2007

Suz has posted a new excerpt for Force of Nature! She must have heard my whining. :-D Anywho, go here and read, peeps! Have I mentioned how much I love Jules?? Oh wait, I believe I have. LOL

In other news, I'm headed off to visit the 'rents this weekend (it's Father's Day this weekend, you know - here in the States, anyway) so you won't see much of me. However, they have finally joined the modern world and now have DSL. I'm soooo proud! Woo hoo!

What day is it, again??
6.12.2007

Anyone else feel like they are in a holding pattern, waiting for a much anticipated book? Maybe it's just me.

It isn't that I haven't read anything good lately...I have, althought I don't recall what, exactly.

Tired...need chocolate. Oh look, dark chocolate M&Ms. Hmmm. Melts in your mouth, not in your hand - convenient when typing, yes?

Anyway, I'm struggling to find something I really want to read in the TBR mountain. I want to be reading Force of Nature!! But, if I can't have that, I would be quite willing to be reading Safe Harbor or Julie Q's new book or Liz Carlyle's new book.

See, I'm not picky! It just seems like everything I want to read isn't available yet, darn it all! }:-(

Anybody else feel this way? How to get over it, I ask you??

Zoooooom!
6.06.2007
Just a quick fly-by to say HI! The big party over the weekend was a success and there was way too much food left over (we will plan better next time). :o)

Since I don't have anything exciting to say (except, I am currently reading Desperate Duchesses and am intrigued by this direction for Eloisa), I'll just post a picture of the dog-cousins I visited with over the weekend -

This is Abby:

And this is Hope:

Aren't they cute?? :-D
