The VISIONS OF HEAT meme

1. Which psychic power would you most like to possess?
I would like to be able to be invisible - and fly. Or just fly. Do those count as psychic powers? I guess they are more "special" powers. Hmmm...I'll go with the answer that ties to the next question - see the future.

2. If you could see the future, what would you like to see?
Well, lottery numbers, of course (not that my state has a lottery....grrrr!) and which stocks, etc. were going to skyrocket. Yeah, I shallow and greedy...what's your point?? ;-) Also, dangers, hazards, etc. to my family and friends that I could prevent/help them avoid. And I agree with Cindy, very clear visions, please! No deep symbolism or anything...I would waffle too much about what it might mean.

3. Imagine you woke up one day and could shapeshift - what would you shift into?
Something that flies - but that wouldn't attract undue attention - like a blue jay or cardinal. Nothing that is a nuisance or is tasty and therefore hunted. :o) Or maybe a cat...a very pampered, lazy house cat. Or, if I lived near the ocean, I would like to be a dolphin for a day.

4. What kind of a paranormal creature would you invite over for dinner if there were no limits on who you could ask?
Some werefolk would be interesting, I think. And maybe a vamp or two, if they promised no biting. Think of the stories they could tell, assuming they've been around for a while!

5. Which future innovation do you wish would hurry up and get here already? i.e. flying cars, a transporter, computers with artificial intelligence, an auto chef?
Transporter! I love to travel but it's such a hassle and the actual getting to the location is a waste of time that might be spent actually seeing stuff. And who wouldn't LOVE an auto chef?!

This meme was begun by Nalini Singh to get the word out about her next book, Visions of Heat (releasing March 6). Want to play, too, and enter to win a $50 Amazon voucher plus an ARC? Click here for details.

As you can see from my "Patience is a Virtue" area on the right, I was already excited about this book, so I'm glad to do what I can to get the word out to people. You haven't read any of Nalini's stuff?? Shame on you!!

Just a bit of Suz news...
2.19.2007
...since the newest newsletter came out today. (You don't get Suz's newsletter, you say?? Take yourself hither and sign up!)

From the newsletter:

I'm currently writing a Troubleshooters Christmas novella, with a release date of October 30, 2007! (Yes, that's a mere two and a half months after the August release of FORCE OF NATURE! A double dose of the Troubleshooters in 2007!)

Yeah, baby!

The details of the novella are vague (because Suz is mean like that) but here are a few of the bits she is willing to share:

When a popular Troubleshooter gets married, what was supposed to be a
low-profile ceremony for family and friends snowballs into a thrill ride featuring a nosy reporter, a dashing personal assistant, and a stalker determined to claim the object of his obsession.

...the play in in preview mode at the moment with early reviews popping up. And since I know you all want to see a bit more of Daniel (stop that giggling!), I thought I would direct you to The Sun's early report...with a new-to-me picture. No, not full frontal...but a full back view. You were warned...

Notice anything different about me??
2.17.2007
Yup - I've been switched over to Beta Blogger or no-longer-Beta Blogger or whatever. It probably would be a bigger deal if I weren't a Mac person. However, since I am, all those cool, see-how-easy formatting things the new Blogger has don't work for me. Blah.

In more important news - I've read the first KEEPER of the year! W00t!!

SEP did her usual fabulous job with Dean's story! Was there any doubt?? You know I don't really do reviews, so I'll just say this - if you have enjoyed her other books, you'll enjoy this one. It will leave you with a smile as you read the last page. Is there higher praise than that? I don't think so. :o)

Another good recent read (look away Ames):

I think Lora's writing is getting much stronger. There has been real growth in her plotting and characterizations since the beginning of her career and the move away from ebooks has given her a chance to go more in depth and offer more detail...that's almost always a good thing. :o) Other than a few nitpicky things (like, how did Clint become a SEAL if he joined the Army at 17???), it was an enjoyable read and a good addition to the series. Still, the fact that he was a SEAL seems more like a plot device than anything else. Kind of like she needed to think of someone who would be fearless and good at beating people up, etc. and didn't really look beyond that. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Suz's SEALs. :-D

Well, that's it for my 2 cents. Later peeps!!

PS: If anybody has any difficulties, now that I've been switched over, or if anything looks funny or whatever, let me know.

Groundhog Day!!
2.02.2007
Since most people are aware of Punxatawney Phil, I thought I would mention the "official" groundhog of the South...General Beauregard Lee. This year Beau's prediction matched Phil's so I guess we're in for an early Spring!! Woo hoo!!

Anyhoo, here is a groundhog (not Beau - go to his website and visit!) wishing you a Happy Groundhog Day!

And here is a pic of Beau's house (because the website doesn't have one):

Remember, he is a southern gentleman groundhog and, therefore, entitled to an antebellum mansion! :-D
