...that I am a Mac person?? Because I am! I mean, yeah I have to deal with PCs at work and I have one at home, too...the one at home mostly gathers dust, though. Why, you ask? Because Macs are so much cooler!! :-D And my Mac is an iBook so it sits with me on the sofa (my main surfing spot).
Anyway, today at Macworld there were several new product announcements - and that's always fun! Including iPod Nanos in colors (I'm not linking to every separate thing...take yourselves to the Apple homepage and surf on!) - kind of like the Minis were - and a redesigned Shuffle that is TINY!! So very cute! I may be forced to add it to my Christmas list (if I can ignore the fact that I already have a Mini and a Video iPod). :o) Speaking of the Video iPod...now you can get games for it at iTunes! Including Bejeweled (I LOVE Bejeweled)!! And PacMan and Mah Jhongg. Nifty!!
See, I have more interests than just books...I do LOVE me some gadgets, too!

Okay, I hate to ask but what is the difference between an iPod, an iPod shuffle and the nanos?
Somehow the whole iPod thing swooped in and happened while I was napping under my rock ;)
I have looked at the cheaper mp3 players but have yet to buy because I'm not sure if they will play uh, free music *nudge, nudge, wink, wink*.
You're not a cop, right?

Ahhh...the difference in a Shuffle and a Nano and an iPod - this is gonna be LONG. Shuffles are the smallest and simplest - really just memory and a button that lets you go forward and backward thru songs, pause, stop and adjust the volume. A Nano has a screen so you can see the name of the song, the album artwork, etc. and run thru playlists and whatnot. Nanos are bigger (size-wise and memory-wise) and more expensive (of course). Regular iPods have a bigger screen, even more memory and can play games, videos, TV shows, movie trailers and now movies. If you get the output cable you can play them one your TV, too. Plus, if you have the iLife suite, you can play photo slideshows on your TV. You can store data and photos on a iPod, regardless.
Yes, all the Apple products aren't the cheapest on the market - but, what a lot of people don't realize (are you listening Bill Gates??), the BEST thing about them is the ease of use. The iTunes store is completely painless (at least, if you have broadband...otherwise patience is needed but it's still mostly painless). Sooooo easy to use! And not just the store is easy - the whole iTunes program is amazingly, brilliantly simple. The iPods, too...so very intuitive and simple. I mean, you've got one big button, basically.
I highly recommend them! Because a friend got me a Mini for Christmas one year, I got myself an iBook a few months later and now I'm a Mac person! :-D They're addictive, I tell you.
I should have added that the ease of it all and the friendliness of the software makes an iPod (whatever version you choose) SO totally worth the price.
The iTunes software can be downloaded or you get a disk when you buy an iPod. If you don't already have iTunes, test it out! If you like the way it works (hey, load your CDs - make mix CDs!!), try an iPod. Start small...you'll be addicted in no time!
Come on over to the dark side!! LOL
I love Macs too. They're just so much cooler! Have you seen the commercials with the Mac/PC guys? So funny.
I can't believe how tiny those new shuffles are. That might be too small--I think I'd lose it! I have a mini too. He's named lil' pinkie and he goes everywhere with me. ;)
